The main reason why many of us are unable to lose weight or it worst cases gain back the lost weight almost immediately is because we don’t look at health as whole. Weight is just an aspect of health. Many of us only seek for weight loss. Well, we can’t really blame you. All those magical transformations seem so overwhelming that all of us crave for it! However, weight lost through such methods, often bounces back. We see so many people losing over 10-15kgs in a month with hardcore dieting and when they stop, they are back to square one. Perhaps they end up gaining more weight than before! We need to realize that weight loss has to be a gradual process. Small permanent changes in our lifestyle are the only effective way of staying fit and maintaining weight. Here are some easy SWAPS, we all can make!

1. Roast instead of frying: Trust us, you’ll still have the taste and the crisp! Investing in a good non-stick pan might not really sound as an investment, but it is one! Roasting vegetables is a perfect way of retaining the minerals in it. 2. Whole grains instead of simple ones: Simple carbs like those in white bread, white pasta, and white rice are full of start and are high in gluten. These break down fast and are rapidly absorbed by the body. Thus increasing your cravings. Whole carbs on the other end are high in fiber and takes longer to get digested, making you feel fuller for longer times. Always start your day with a high-fiber breakfast like oatmeal.

3. Eat fruits instead of smoothies! Take them out from the blender and put those back in our plate. Smoothies and juices can really be a fun way of detox! However, looking at smoothies as a permanent replacement is not the right way to go about it. Fruits must be eaten fresh to retain the high-fiber content in them. 4. Opt for natural sugars instead of processed ones: Although all forms of sugar have more or less the same effects, using natural sugars can be beneficial in a long term. Fruits contain fructose while raw honey contains glucose and fructose. Processed sugar contains 100% sucrose. So the composition is more or less the same. However, honey is much sweeter than processed sugar and therefore, one might require smaller amounts of it.

5. Switch to Unsaturated fats from the saturated ones: Saturated fats like cheese and butter are easily absorbed in the body and rapidly increase the bad cholesterol levels. Unsaturated fats like ghee, fats in fruits and nuts, seed oils are healthier because they mobilize stubborn fats and even lower cholesterol! 6. Green tea instead of regular one: While regular tea has been associated with acidity by many, green tea happens to be a perfect beverage replacement when looking for weight maintenance. Green tea boosts metabolism and improves digestion. It has been proven to aid in fat burning as well.
